Single Axle Trailer FAQs

By law, single-axle trailers without brakes in Australia have a maximum total GVM of 750 kg. The GVM, or Gross Vehicle Mass, refers to the weight of both the trailer and its contents. To figure out a trailer's weight capacity, simply detract its weight from the 750kg GVM.
On a single-axle trailer, you want to distribute approximately 60% of your weight in front of the axle and 40% behind to ensure stability while you're towing. As a rule, the heaviest items you are hauling should be positioned at the front of the trailer so that their weight is carried by the tow ball.
The biggest size we carry in single axle trailers is 8ft x 5ft, with a drawbar length of 1.5m. The total length of our 8x5 single-axle trailer is 3.9m.
It depends on how big you need your trailer to be and how much weight you are planning to haul. Single-axle trailers are more popular for light work and home uses, while double-axle trailers are better suited for large professional projects.
All our trailers are compliant with ADR regulations, meaning they are safe to tow on Australian roads under proper use.
It is always recommended to drive 10km/h less than the speed limit when you are towing a trailer, whatever the size or type.
No. It is illegal to transport an oversized trailer without the required special permit. Doing so can result in fines, penalties, and legal consequences. It's important to follow the regulations and obtain the necessary permits to ensure safe and lawful transportation.
