Tandem Trailer FAQs

Our 8x5 Tandem Trailer is 4.2m long, while the 10x5 and 10x6 trailers have a total length of 4.8m.
The aggregate trailer mass (ATM) is 2000kg for all tandem trailers. Across our tandem trailer range, tare weights vary from 465kg-608kg. How much weight a tandem axle trailer can carry will depend on the weight of the trailer itself - therefore, the loading capacity of our range varies from 1392kg-1535kg.
Although it is possible to move a tandem axle trailer by hand, the additional weight will make it more difficult when compared to a single axle trailer. Tandem axle trailers also have two axles and four wheels, giving them more traction and stability and making them more difficult to move.
Tandem trailers are designed for heavy-duty applications and feature a 1.8m drawbar and off-road rocker roller suspension, making them able to travel on rugged roads - something single-axle trailers struggle to do. Additionally, more wheels and thicker axles make tandem-axle trailers much more stable and able to carry heavier loads in a single trip.
Not for standard tandem trailers. Refer to our hydraulic tippers for tandem-axle trailers with a tipping function.
The main difference is the suspension, but the premium models also have extra support under the drawbar. For the premium models, the longer the drawbar, the easier they are to reverse.
Yes, our 2,800kg heavy-duty electric brake models.
An electrical connection on the trailer plugs into the connector on the vehicle. There are electrical wires running from the trailer connector back to each brake on the axle, as well as to the trailer lights to create a complete circuit. When the driver steps on the brakes it sends a current to the brake control in the vehicle, which then sends a current back to the trailer to activate the brakes.
As with any trailer, you should aim to have the slight majority of your weight loaded in front of the trailer's axles. As a general rule, aim for 60% in front of the axles and 40% behind the axles, with the heaviest items loaded at the front of the trailer so their weight is on the tow ball.
