Frequently asked questions
The answers below are a summary. Where a question affects your claim, the full wording in the sections above applies.
How long is my trailer covered?
Eligible brand-new trailers have 24 months structural coverage and 12 months on selected components. Running gear is covered for 6 months. Commercial or hire use is covered for shorter periods.
When does the warranty period start?
From the original date of purchase shown on your invoice. Keep the invoice — it is needed for any claim.
Is the warranty transferable?
No. Coverage applies to the original purchaser and does not transfer with the trailer if it is sold.
Do I need to register the warranty?
No registration is required. Your proof of purchase and the trailer identification details are what we ask for.
What if I bought the trailer second-hand?
This written warranty does not transfer to a subsequent owner. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law may still apply.
Does the warranty cover commercial use?
Yes, at reduced periods. Trailers used for business, rental, hire or fleet purposes are covered for the shorter periods shown in section 3.
Are tyres and brake pads covered?
No. Tyres, brake linings and light globes are wear items that are used up through normal operation.
Can I fit accessories or modify the trailer?
Accessories supplied or approved by Big Man Trailer can be fitted. Welding, drilling, cutting or fitting non-approved parts is not covered.
Can I get the repair done locally?
Only with written approval first. Repairs arranged before approval may affect the assessment of your request.
Does the trailer need to be inspected?
In most cases, yes. Inspection confirms the cause of the issue before any repair or replacement is approved.
How long does a claim take?
It depends on the inspection, parts availability and the nature of the fault. We confirm the expected timeframe in writing.
What if my claim is declined?
We explain the reason in writing. You can provide further information, and your rights under the Australian Consumer Law are unaffected.
